When we first began our small holding we knew we wanted sheep. We chose the Poll Dorset because it is very friendly and always has twin lambs. We kept them for eight years but needed a new ram. This was impossible to find as all Poll Dorsets in France originate from the same stock. We have now changed our breed to Portlands and Shetlands. These are a lot smaller and have horns so you have to take care when looking after them.

These were our first two Poll Dorset ewes, Flora and Fauna. They were very friendly, partly because they were both bottle fed.

This is Fern with her first lamb. Her name is Hazel and now lives with our friend Angela.

If you look carefully you can see one of Fauna's lambs peeping out under mum's tummy!

Here is the Shetland ewe. She is white with chocolate brown head and legs.

The Portlands are white with a soft tan head and legs.
